Microsoft releases Windows 11 security update KB5127648

Microsoft has released the cumulative security update KB5127648 for Windows 11, covering versions 24H2, 25H2, and 26H2. The update addresses a massive volume of vulnerabilities, with some trackers reporting over 1,000 corrected CVEs, including at least one actively exploited flaw identified by CISA.

This update marks the end of regular support for Windows 11 24H2 Home and Pro editions. Following this release, these specific editions will no longer receive monthly security updates or optional preview builds. However, Enterprise and Education editions will continue to receive support until October 12, 2027.

Microsoft has also acknowledged a technical issue where the update may prevent some users from activating Smart App Control. While the update aims to strengthen system security, this specific bug interferes with the ability to enable the built-in protection feature designed to block untrusted applications.
