Microsoft rolls out Office 2024 and patches long‑standing Windows update installer bug
Microsoft announced that support for Office 2021, Office 2019, Office 2016 and Microsoft Publisher will end on 13 October 2026, with no extended security updates offered. After that date, older versions will receive no security fixes, and Publisher will cease to open files. To help users transition, the company highlighted the release of Office 2024 Professional Plus, a perpetual license sold for €11.30 and guaranteed support until October 2029.
In a separate update, Microsoft delivered June 2026 cumulative patches that finally resolve a long‑standing defect in the Windows Update Standalone Installer (WUSA). The bug caused installation failures for MSU packages stored on network shares, affecting Windows 11 (versions 24H2 and 25H2) and Windows Server 2025. The fix is included in KB5079391e / KB5094125 and restores reliable automated deployment for enterprise environments.
