Microsoft announces Xbox exclusives Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution

Microsoft’s new Xbox head, HQAsha Sharma, confirmed that the company is moving away from Phil Spencer’s multi‑platform release strategy. The firm stated that the upcoming titles Gears of War: E‑Day (scheduled for 2026) and Clockwork Revolution (2027) will be console‑exclusive for Xbox and are not “timed exclusives.”

Matt Booty, Xbox’s chief content officer, said, “We want a reason for people to buy an Xbox… we want to reward longtime players, and we know exclusives are important.” Microsoft added that while these games will be Xbox‑only, larger multiplayer and live‑service titles will continue to launch across platforms, and previously promised releases will stay on their announced schedules. Decisions on future exclusivity will be made on a case‑by‑case basis.
