Microsoft Teams to introduce AI-powered call assistant
Microsoft is developing an AI-powered calling feature for Microsoft Teams known as Intelligent Call Delegation. This assistant is designed to answer incoming calls on a user’s behalf, gather context regarding the caller's needs, and facilitate follow-up appointments through integration with Microsoft Bookings.
The feature aims to assist employees who are unable to answer calls immediately due to meetings or other tasks. According to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, a public preview is expected in mid-to-late November 2026, with general availability planned for January 2027. The rollout will be available worldwide, subject to organizational licensing and administrative settings.
Additionally, Microsoft continues to integrate Copilot within the Teams ecosystem. Copilot serves as an AI assistant that can summarize meetings and chat conversations, identify pending tasks, and answer specific questions about shared information to help users catch up on missed discussions.
