Microsoft Teams usage in Austrian vocational education
A study conducted by Alora Tunjic examines the implementation of Microsoft Teams as a learning management system within commercial vocational higher education in Tyrol, Austria. Through qualitative interviews with teachers, the research explores how digitalization influences teaching and learning processes.
The findings indicate that Microsoft Teams has become a permanent fixture in daily school life, primarily used for organization, communication, and the distribution of learning materials. While the platform offers opportunities to support independent learning and digital competence, its pedagogical value is heavily dependent on the teacher's competence and how the tool is didactically integrated.
Key challenges identified include the necessity of maintaining personal interaction, issues regarding accessibility, and the requirement for appropriate organizational and technical frameworks to support effective use.
