University of Warwick rolls out Microsoft Teams Video Camera in teaching rooms

The University of Warwick is introducing the Microsoft Teams Video Camera in centrally timetabled teaching rooms, deploying the equipment one room at a time. Rooms equipped with the camera are listed under the “TEAMS – TUTOR CAMERA” option in the booking system, and users can adjust the camera angle via a touch panel on the lectern. The camera does not capture audio; separate microphone guidance applies. Support for the AV equipment is provided by the university’s Audio Visual team (024 765 22463) and the Academic Technology help desk.

Microsoft Teams also offers multiple screen‑sharing options. Users can share their entire desktop, a specific application window, or a PowerPoint presentation from a PC. On mobile devices, Teams allows presenters to upload or select a PowerPoint file from the device or cloud storage and share it directly within a meeting, using the ellipsis menu to access the “Share → PowerPoint” function.

These tools aim to enhance remote and hybrid teaching by enabling video capture of presenters, whiteboards, and shared content across live meetings, lecture recordings, and Echo 360 captures.
