Microsoft testing remote PC power controls via Android app

A new beta version of Microsoft’s Link to Windows app for Android is introducing features that allow users to remotely manage their PC's power settings. The update, found in Android beta version 1.26101.103.0, provides a Power button with four specific options: Lock PC, Sleep PC, Shut down, and Restart.

When using these remote commands, the app displays a warning that users may have unsaved data and reminds them that unsaved work cannot be managed remotely. If a user chooses the Sleep option, the app notes that the PC cannot be reactivated remotely and must be woken up in person.

The update also enables users to trigger Windows updates through the app, offering options to ‘Update and shut down’ or ‘Update and restart’ when software is pending. While Microsoft offers a Link to Windows app for iPhone, there is currently no indication that these specific remote power features are being developed for Apple devices.
