Microsoft rolls out Windows 11 26H2 update and new Insider features

Microsoft has completed the phased rollout of Windows 11 version 26H2, making the update available to compatible systems running versions 24H2 or 25H2. Users can upgrade via Windows Update or by using the eKB5121794 enablement package. The transition is particularly urgent for users on version 24H2 Home and Pro editions, as official support for those versions ended on October 13, 2026.

New features are being tested via Windows Insider builds, specifically build 26340.9767 in the Experimental channel. Key additions include a native internet speed test integrated directly into the Quick Settings menu, which measures download speed, upload speed, and ping without requiring a web browser. Additionally, new mobile device controls allow users to manage connected Android phones—such as toggling Do Not Disturb or locating the device via sound—directly from the Windows interface.

Other updates include a redesigned, less cluttered context menu in the Beta channel, improved accessibility controls for the Magnifier tool, and the ability to manage Microsoft 365 recurring billing within Windows settings. However, some users have reported a bug in the October patch (KB5127648) that prevents the activation of the Smart App Control security feature on certain systems.
