Microsoft tests automatic Dark Mode and Cloud Rebuild for Windows 11
Microsoft is testing several new features for Windows 11 within its Insider Preview builds. One major update is the introduction of an automatic Dark Mode. This feature would allow the operating system to switch between light and dark themes based on a user-defined schedule or by using location services to track sunrise and sunset times. To prevent visual disruptions during active use, such as video conferences, the system may be designed to only perform the switch when the computer is idle.
Additionally, Microsoft is developing a feature called ‘Cloud Rebuild’ for the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE). This tool aims to simplify system repairs by allowing users to perform a complete reinstallation of Windows via the internet. By downloading a fresh system image and necessary drivers directly through Windows Update, the feature could eliminate the need for a bootable USB drive, which is traditionally required when a system fails to boot due to severe corruption.
