Microsoft to end mainstream support for Windows Server 2022 in 2026

Microsoft has announced that mainstream support for Windows Server 2022 will end on October 13, 2026. The October 2026 security update will serve as the final update provided under the mainstream support tier.

Following this transition, Windows Server 2022 will enter an extended support phase, which includes monthly security updates at no additional cost through October 14, 2031. For systems running the Datacenter: Azure Edition, Microsoft has extended hotpatching support until October 2027.

Administrators are advised to begin planning upgrades to Windows Server 2025, the current Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) release. Windows Server 2025 is scheduled to receive mainstream support until November 13, 2029, with extended support continuing until November 14, 2034.
