Microsoft refreshes Surface Pro and Laptop with Snapdragon X2 Plus

Microsoft has announced refreshed versions of its Surface Pro 12-inch and Surface Laptop 13-inch, both powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Plus processor. Unveiled at the Snapdragon Summit, these Copilot+ PC devices focus on enhanced local AI capabilities, featuring a Hexagon NPU capable of 80 TOPS.

Key performance improvements include up to 95% faster local AI inferencing, 60% faster graphics, and 17% faster performance in Office applications. Battery efficiency has also improved by up to 18%. The new models feature brighter 500-nit PixelSense displays compared to the previous 400-nit versions. The Surface Pro 12-inch maintains its 2-in-1 design and introduces a new black color option, while the Surface Laptop 13-inch offers up to 22.5 hours of video playback.

Accompanying the hardware is a redesigned Surface Mouse, which features haptic feedback and a customizable action button for quick access to Copilot. The new Surface devices and accessories are scheduled for international release on October 13, with the Surface Pro starting at $1,149.99 and the Surface Laptop at $1,199.99.
