Indonesian Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, met with Microsoft leadership in New York to discuss the company’s $1.7 billion investment commitment in Indonesia. The investment is aimed at developing cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence (AI), and the broader digital ecosystem.
Minister Hafid emphasized that the investment should provide long-term benefits by facilitating technology and knowledge transfer. The Indonesian government aims to transform the country from a mere consumer market into a strategic regional hub for digital infrastructure and innovation.
Key areas of collaboration include AI, cloud technology, cybersecurity, and responsible technology governance. The government also seeks to align digital skill development with industry needs to foster a new generation of Indonesian developers, engineers, and digital leaders.
