Microsoft is overhauling two long‑standing Windows 11 issues under its Windows K2 initiative. The company is redesigning the right‑click (context) menu to a compact layout that loads only the most common actions, eliminating the need to load every third‑party entry. A new “Customize” button will appear at the bottom of the menu, letting users hide, show or reorder items. The redesign is intended to make the menu open near‑instantly, removing the typical one‑ to two‑second delay.

In parallel, Microsoft is optimizing Windows 11 memory consumption for devices with 8 GB of RAM or more. The effort includes a more efficient memory allocator and targeted improvements to WinUI 3, Chromium and WebView2 components, aiming to lower the operating‑system RAM footprint and improve responsiveness on modest hardware. Both the context‑menu changes and the RAM‑efficiency updates are slated for rollout before the end of 2026, with early builds already reaching Windows Insiders.
