Microsoft unveils Xbox Nano Controller for portable gaming

Microsoft has officially announced the Xbox Nano Controller, the smallest gamepad in the brand's history. Designed for portability, the device measures just over five inches in length and weighs approximately 99 grams, making it smaller and lighter than most modern smartphones.

Despite its compact size, the controller retains all 18 standard Xbox gameplay inputs to ensure compatibility across various genres. Key features include a built-in rechargeable battery and a customizable Action Button that can be mapped to functions such as taking screenshots or recording gameplay clips. The device supports both Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth connectivity, allowing it to pair with Xbox consoles, PCs, mobile devices (iOS and Android), and compatible smart TVs.

The Xbox Nano is positioned for younger players, users with smaller hands, and gamers who prioritize mobile cloud gaming. It is priced at $49.99 USD, with pre-orders currently open. A global rollout is scheduled for November 2026. In the United States, Microsoft has announced holiday bundles featuring the controller alongside Samsung smart TVs and Meta Quest headsets, which include two months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
