Microsoft updates Windows 11 and Edge features

Microsoft has introduced several updates across its Windows and Edge ecosystems. In recent Windows 11 builds (26100.9539, 26200.9539, and 26300.9539), the ‘PC-to-PC Migration’ feature has been removed. This function previously allowed users to transfer files directly from an old computer to a new one during setup via a local network. Microsoft now directs users to use Windows Backup via OneDrive, which involves uploading files to the cloud and downloading them to the new device.

Additionally, Microsoft Edge version 153 includes security fixes and several functional changes. The browser is deprecating Windows Information Protection (WIP) and Microsoft Defender Application Guard (MDAG) to better align with the Windows platform. Edge is also unifying tracking protection for both standard and InPrivate windows, removing the separate toggle for ‘strict’ protection in InPrivate mode. Furthermore, the browser is adopting Chromium’s default DNS targets for PAC script local IP detection, switching to Google Public DNS addresses.
