Microsoft updates Windows 11 with Cloud Rebuild and new Photos app

Microsoft is rolling out significant updates to Windows 11, focusing on system recovery and media management. A major new feature, Cloud Rebuild, allows users to reinstall the operating system by downloading a fresh system image and drivers directly from Microsoft servers, removing the requirement for a bootable USB drive.

The Windows 11 Photos app is also undergoing a major overhaul. The rebuilt application features a faster editor that launches 25% quicker and includes AI-powered tools such as object removal and lighting adjustment via the Relight feature. The update introduces a unified gallery that integrates photos from PCs, OneDrive, and Apple’s iCloud, allowing users to manage diverse libraries in one location.

Other system enhancements include a redesigned File Explorer context menu, official Dark Mode support for the folder options window, and improved performance for the Microsoft Edge browser. Accessibility features have also been expanded, including enhanced math equation navigation for the Narrator screen reader and independent multi-monitor zoom for the Magnifier tool.
