Microsoft updates Windows 11 with new context menu and search features
Microsoft is introducing several functional updates to Windows 11, currently available for testing in the Release Preview and Windows Insider channels.
One major update addresses long-standing user requests regarding the right-click context menu. The redesign will bring back direct commands such as Cut, Copy, Paste, Rename, Delete, and Share, moving away from the icon-heavy interface that previously required more clicks to access basic functions. Additionally, Microsoft is implementing a new recovery method that allows users to reinstall the operating system via direct cloud download, eliminating the need for a USB drive when a computer fails to boot.
Furthermore, the Windows 11 search function is being expanded to act as a quick control center. Users will be able to execute system actions directly from search results without opening the Settings app. This includes toggling Dark Mode, minimizing or reorganizing open windows, and managing workspace organization. Future updates are expected to include deeper integration with connected mobile devices.
