Microsoft updates Windows 11 with new File Explorer and search features

Microsoft has released new update packages for Windows 11 Insiders, including KB5127936 for the Release Preview channel and KB5127844 for the Experimental (26H1) channel.

A major feature in the KB5127936 update is a redesigned File Explorer context menu, which allows users to customize commands and organize third-party application extensions into submenus. The update also introduces a cloud-rebuild function, enabling users to reinstall Windows via Windows Update through the network without requiring external installation media like a USB drive. Other improvements include address bar enhancements and expanded accessibility features, such as screen reader support for Microsoft 365 formulas.

The KB5127844 update focuses on search and accessibility. The search interface has been simplified to reduce visual clutter and better distinguish between local results, web results, and Store suggestions. Users can now toggle web and Store suggestions via privacy settings. Additionally, a new “Pointer Indicator” accessibility setting has been introduced to help visually impaired users locate the cursor more easily.
