Microsoft optimizes Windows 11 for better performance and 8GB RAM efficiency
Microsoft has announced significant performance improvements for Windows 11, claiming the operating system is now up to 20% more responsive. These updates specifically target efficiency in memory management, which provides a meaningful benefit for devices equipped with 8GB of RAM or less. By optimizing how active data is handled, the system can keep up to 2GB more data in the RAM instead of moving it to slower storage, reducing lag when switching between applications.
Additional optimizations include making Widgets load only upon user interaction, which frees up approximately 200MB of memory. Other improvements involve faster Windows Hello sign-in, more reliable Bluetooth pairing, and enhancements to File Explorer, Search, and the Edge browser. Microsoft is also rolling out a redesigned Photos app that integrates local files with OneDrive and iCloud, featuring a rebuilt editor and improved search capabilities.
Parallel to official updates, the developer NTDEV is reviving the Tiny11 project. The new version of Tiny11 Builder utilizes a WinUI 3 desktop application to help users create lightweight, custom ISO files of Windows 11 by removing unnecessary components, aiming to make the OS more accessible for hardware with limited resources.
