Microsoft rolls out Windows 11 24H2/25H2 preview builds with performance and UI enhancements

Microsoft has released new Windows 11 preview builds – 26100.8942 for version 24H2 and 26200.8942 for 25H2 – that add Voice Isolation to Voice Access, new touch‑pad gesture settings and automatic file‑size units (KB, MB, GB) in File Explorer. The company also announced upcoming improvements to Explorer’s search speed, migrating performance gains from Windows Search to the "This PC" view.

In parallel, the Insider Experimental build 26300.8935 redesigns the Privacy & Security page, introducing a "Core Privacy Settings" section for location, camera and microphone permissions and restoring the familiar Windows Security category. The same build brings faster file‑deletion, quicker Home page launch, animated widget icons, a slightly taller task‑bar search box, desktop‑background stability across multiple desktops and an enhanced Run dialog.

July’s cumulative update (KB5101650) may require two reboots on some PCs to apply Secure Boot and .NET Framework changes, while the July Patch Day addressed 570 security vulnerabilities. These coordinated updates aim to improve usability, accessibility and system reliability for Windows 11 users worldwide.
