Microsoft Windows June 2026 Patch Tuesday updates trigger installation errors on some Windows 11 PCs

Microsoft released its June 2026 Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 10 and Windows 11, addressing more than 200 security vulnerabilities across products such as Azure, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Kerberos, PowerToys, Windows Shell, the Windows kernel, Defender, Remote Desktop, Office, BitLocker and Visual Studio Code. The updates are delivered via Windows Update, WSUS or the Microsoft Update Catalog and apply to Windows 10 versions 21H2 and 22H2 (via KB5094127) and Windows 11 versions 23H2, 24H2 and 25H2 (via KB5093998, KB5094126 and KB5094135).

A subset of Windows 11 devices that migrated from Windows 10 or earlier Windows 11 builds to version 24H2 or 25H2 are experiencing installation failures with error codes 0x80073712 and 0x800f0993. Microsoft attributes the issue to a component‑store corruption (ERROR_SXS_COMPONENT_STORE_CORRUPT) and states it affects a small percentage of PCs. A simple reboot may resolve the problem for many users; those with persistent failures are advised to manually remove the problematic package using DISM or perform an in‑place upgrade that retains files and apps. The company has provided specific remedial packages in the June update to prevent recurrence.
