Microsoft Windows Search and Start Menu troubleshooting
Users of Windows 10 and Windows 11 can utilize several methods to manage and repair core interface components such as the Search function and the Start Menu.
Windows Search can be accessed via the taskbar, the Windows key + S shortcut, or by typing directly into the Start menu. It allows users to locate apps, files, and web results. For more specific file searches, users can utilize File Explorer with shortcuts like Ctrl + E or F3.
To resolve issues with the Windows 11 Start Menu, such as crashes or misbehavior, users can restart the StartMenuExperienceHost process through Task Manager or Windows Terminal. If a restart is insufficient, the Start Menu can be re-registered using PowerShell commands for either the current user or all users on the system. Additionally, resetting the Start Menu to default settings can be achieved by deleting the DefaultAccount key within the Registry Editor and restarting Windows Explorer.
