Google expands Gemini with voice dictation, Magic Pointer and new AI tools
Google announced a suite of updates to its Gemini AI platform on 24 June 2026. The new "Speak to Window" feature adds on‑demand voice dictation to any open application on macOS, allowing users to compose emails, write documents or generate images by holding the Fn key. At the same time, the "Magic Pointer" assistant combines cursor tracking with speech and text input, enabling the system to react to what the user points at. Gemini Notebooks, a project‑management workspace that bundles files, chat history and custom instructions, is now available to AI Ultra, Pro and Plus subscribers, with a mobile version slated for later release. In Google Sheets, an AI helper can now detect and explain formula errors, offering corrected suggestions. To complement the software upgrades, Google introduced a €99 Gemini‑branded Home speaker, sold in four colors and shipped from 25 June, with a six‑month premium Home subscription included. These releases follow earlier Gemini AI enhancements such as voice‑call transcription and summary features introduced on 16 June.
