Microsoft Windows update and startup management guides

Microsoft provides several methods for managing Windows operating system updates and startup configurations. To manually install updates, users can utilize the Windows 11 Installation Assistant, which requires an administrator account, a valid license, and 9 GB of free disk space. This tool is designed for x64 processors and is the recommended method for upgrading to Windows 11.

For Windows 10 users, the Update Assistant is used to move to version 22H2, while monthly KB updates are managed through Windows Update or the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Additionally, Windows 11 allows users to manage which applications launch automatically upon system startup. This can be configured through the Settings menu under Apps > Startup, via the Task Manager to enable or disable specific programs, or by manually adding application shortcuts to the system's Startup folder using the shell:startup command.
