MicroStrategy Bitcoin sale fuels market debate

Strategy (MicroStrategy) sold 32 BTC for about $2.5 million on May 31, a transaction recorded by CryptoQuant. While the sale attracted attention, analysts cite a broader off‑load of more than 447 000 BTC by large holders since late May, pushing Bitcoin down almost 20% from around $78 000 to the low $60 000 range.

A Polymarket prediction market asked whether Strategy would sell any Bitcoin before May 31. The market resolved “No” because the sale’s public SEC filing was disclosed on June 1, outside the contract’s cutoff. The resolution sparked debate over how prediction‑market oracles should treat the timing of events versus the timing of public confirmation, with some participants questioning the integrity of the decision.
