MicroStrategy executes major Bitcoin buybacks amid Trump stock disclosures

MicroStrategy has engaged in significant Bitcoin trading activity, including a recent repurchase of 5,553 BTC. The company spent approximately $445.4 million on these buybacks, which was about $100.2 million more than the proceeds gained from its previous sale of 6,948 BTC between May and August. Following these transactions, MicroStrategy's total Bitcoin holdings reached 846,000 BTC as of September 20.

Financial disclosures from the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) also revealed that asset accounts associated with Donald Trump purchased MicroStrategy (MSTR) stock in July. The transactions, totaling between $51,002 and $115,000, occurred after an initial sale earlier that month. The White House clarified that these assets are managed by a third-party financial institution and that Trump does not personally execute the trades, though he remains the beneficiary of the account.

MicroStrategy's recent Bitcoin acquisitions were funded through a combination of cash and common stock issuance. While the company successfully increased its holdings, its total Bitcoin count remains 1,363 units lower than its peak in June.
