MicroStrategy stock faces volatility amid US inflation rise
MicroStrategy (MSTR) stock is facing volatility driven by rising US inflation data and fluctuations in Bitcoin prices. Recent Bureau of Labor Statistics reports show headline CPI rose to 0.4% in August, while core CPI reached 0.3%, exceeding economist expectations. This inflationary pressure has increased expectations that the Federal Reserve may raise interest rates, creating a challenging macro environment for rate-sensitive assets like Bitcoin and MicroStrategy, which is the largest publicly traded corporate holder of BTC.
Despite these pressures, some analysts remain bullish on MicroStrategy. The company’s STRC preferred stock has surged toward its $100 par value, driven by an $811.5 million buyback program. Analysts suggest that if STRC successfully returns to par, it could serve as a significant capital-raising tool for further Bitcoin accumulation. Some forecasts suggest MSTR could reach $185 if its market net asset value (mNAV) expands alongside Bitcoin’s recovery.
