Mid-American Conference announces weekly athletic honors

The Mid-American Conference (MAC) has recognized several student-athletes for their performances. In swimming, Ohio University senior Zita Szoke was named the MAC Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season. Szoke led the Bobcats to a 293.00-57.00 victory against Illinois State, securing first-place finishes in three individual events and three relays. During the competition, she also broke her own school record for the 50 free relay.

In volleyball, Western Michigan University players Leah Richmond and Gabby Weihe received weekly honors following a sweep of Toledo. Richmond was named the MAC Setter of the Week, recording 78 assists and 21 digs over the weekend. Weihe was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week, marking the first time a player has claimed both offensive and defensive player of the week honors in the conference this season.
