Mid-American Conference appoints Ball State president to CFP board and selects Bowling Green president as council chair

The Mid-American Conference (MAC) announced that Ball State University President Geoffrey S. Mearns has been chosen as the MAC’s representative on the College Football Playoff (CFP) Board of Managers. Mearns succeeds University at Buffalo President Satish K. Tripathi and will join a board composed of conference presidents, chancellors and the University of Notre Dame to oversee CFP budgets, policies and operations.

In a separate governance change, Bowling Green State University President Dr. Rodney K. Rogers was elected Chair of the MAC Council of Presidents, taking over from Mearns after five years. Rogers, the university’s 12th president and first alumnus in the role, will lead the council’s efforts to advance the student‑athlete experience and the conference’s long‑term strategic goals.
