Danish politicians face scrutiny over local governance and land deals

Political instability is emerging in Middelfart, where Anders Møllegård faces criticism from his supporting parties. Seven of the twelve politicians who helped secure his position as mayor are expressing distrust, claiming he has failed to uphold a political agreement signed last November. The agreement required monthly physical meetings and advance communication on major political issues.

Separately, Henrik Frandsen, a minister and former mayor of Tønder, is facing allegations of misuse of power. Experts and a former landowner have criticized a maneuver involving a 20-year agreement signed in 2001. The agreement reclassified 12.4 hectares of land from agricultural use to a wetland area, which critics argue significantly reduced the property's value before its sale, potentially resulting in a personal gain of approximately one million kroner for Frandsen. Frandsen denies all accusations.
