Midden-Delfland provides free electric cargo bikes to bypass roadworks
In Midden-Delfland, South Holland, free electric cargo bikes are being provided to families to mitigate travel delays caused by major roadworks on the N468. The provincial road, which runs between Maasland and Schipluiden, is undergoing extensive renovations including dike reinforcement and utility upgrades, a project expected to continue until 2029.
Provincial Deputy Jeroen van Dijken stated that the cargo bikes were selected as the best alternative to avoid the significant extra travel time required by traditional detours. The initiative aims to help parents transport children to school and sports activities more efficiently. Local residents have expressed enthusiasm for the electric bikes, noting their utility in various weather conditions.
