Middle-earth expands with new video game and board game releases

New content and products are expanding the presence of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth across different gaming mediums.

In the MMORPG 'The Lord of the Rings Online', a new expansion titled 'Wolves of Mordor' has been revealed via trailer. The update introduces new explorable areas and unique gameplay features for home management. Most notably, it introduces a new type of enemy: werewolves, which are described as a distinct threat from the traditional Wargs previously seen in the game.

In the tabletop gaming sector, Asmodee has released 'The Lord of the Rings: The Destiny of the Fellowship'. This cooperative strategic board game, available on Amazon, utilizes a system adapted from 'Pandemic'. Players work together in groups of one to five to protect Frodo and prevent the forces of Sauron from conquering Middle-earth.
