Middle-earth works featured for Hobbit Day celebrations

To celebrate Hobbit Day in September, Sky and Sky+ are hosting a special programming event featuring the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. The lineup includes the Hobbit trilogy, which is available on Sky+, and the original Lord of the Rings trilogy, including the director's extended editions, available on Prime Video.

The Hobbit trilogy follows Bilbo Baggins as he joins Gandalf and a company of dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield to reclaim the kingdom of Erebor from the dragon Smaug. This series serves as a prequel to the Lord of the Rings saga, establishing the origins of the One Ring.

In a separate exploration of Tolkien's lore, the socioeconomic analysis titled 'No Hobbit Goes Hungry' examines the internal workings of the Shire. The study investigates the economy, labor, institutions, and social structures of the fictional region, using historical analogies to understand how the community functions without a formal state.
