Middle East conflict escalates amid Iran warnings and Gaza ceasefire violations

The Middle East conflict, which began on February 28, 2026, following joint US and Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, continues to escalate despite a Pakistan-mediated ceasefire that took effect on April 8.

Iran has warned it will treat countries participating in the United States’ “economic war” against the Islamic Republic as enemies, following Washington’s announcement of an “economic D-Day” against the nation. Tensions remain high in the Strait of Hormuz, where naval confrontations persist despite the truce.

In the Gaza Strip, Israeli attacks have resulted in at least one death and one injury in Al Bassa, north of Deir al-Balá, violating the formal ceasefire. Additionally, several nations, including Spain, have condemned Israeli plans to expand settlements in the West Bank, specifically the E1 area near Jerusalem, labeling the move “unacceptable.”
