Middle East expands AI digital infrastructure through new data centre projects

In Saudi Arabia, HUMAIN and DataVolt have announced a partnership to develop a 100MW AI-ready data centre at Oxagon, located in NEOM. This facility is part of a larger 360MW first phase of DataVolt’s planned AI data centre campus. Construction is currently underway, with the first 100MW expected to be available by 2028. The project aims to provide high-density digital infrastructure, integrating renewable energy and advanced cooling technologies to support large-scale AI and cloud workloads.

Meanwhile, Egypt is exploring the creation of an integrated hyperscale data centre and artificial intelligence zone. The Egyptian government is discussing the project with HEKA Insights and a US alliance of data centre developers. The initiative seeks to leverage Egypt’s strategic location, submarine cables, and fiber-optic networks to establish the country as a regional digital hub, focusing on technology localization and job creation.
