Middle East tensions rise amid Israeli attacks and Hormuz blockade

Tensions in the Middle East are escalating due to military actions and maritime blockades. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed grave concern regarding Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon, describing them as a threat to regional stability. Erdogan has advocated for joint defense agreements to ensure security, an initiative welcomed by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Simultaneously, Iran has maintained the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, stating the blockade will remain in place until its demands are met. This maritime tension is met with conflicting claims from the United States; President Donald Trump asserted that the U.S. maintains total control over the strait, characterizing the Iranian blockade as a ‘wall’. Meanwhile, Israel has declared it will not withdraw from occupied territories in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza.
