Middle East tensions rise as Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar condemn Israeli attacks
Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar have issued a joint statement condemning recent Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, expressing deep concern over violations of the established ceasefire. The mediating nations stated that the intensification of military actions negatively impacts regional and international efforts to implement a comprehensive plan to end the conflict. They called on the international community and the UN Security Council to pressure Israel to respect its ceasefire obligations.
Simultaneously, tensions have escalated between Israel and Turkey regarding military activity in Syria. Israel bombed the Abu al-Duhur airbase, claiming it was intended to house Turkish troops, a move Israel views as a security threat. While Israel's defense minister warned President Erdogan against engaging in ‘dangerous adventures’ in Syria, Turkey has denied the presence of any military delegation at the base during the strike. Syrian officials clarified that recent Turkish visits to the site were limited to military training and expertise exchange, denying plans for a permanent Turkish base.
