Middle Franconia experts address climate impacts on water and soil

In Middle Franconia, Germany, regional experts and organizations are convening to address the growing challenges posed by climate change to water resources and soil health. At the second Soil Protection Day in Triesdorf, the initiative ‘Heimat. Boden. Wasser’ highlighted the necessity of developing strategies for farmers and municipalities to mitigate climate extremes, such as prolonged heatwaves and droughts that deplete river levels and agricultural yields.

Complementing these efforts, the sixth Middle Franconia Water Forum focused on groundwater protection and sustainable water management. Participants discussed the importance of a ‘bottom-up principle’ to build landscape water resilience and emphasized that investing in groundwater protection today can reduce future costs. Experts noted that technological progress and innovative solutions are essential to securing local water supplies for future generations amidst shifting climatic patterns.
