Middle Rhine Valley municipalities select design for new recycling center
The municipal association ‘Altstoffsammelzentrum Mittleres Rheintal’ has announced the winner of the architectural competition for a new recycling and waste collection center. The project is a collaborative effort between the municipalities of Götzis, Altach, Mäder, Koblach, and the city of Hohenems.
The new facility will be located in the Kobel area on the territory of Götzis, using land provided by the Götzis agricultural community under building rights. The center is designed to serve as a central hub for the professional collection of various materials, including bulky waste, hazardous substances, construction debris, and electronic waste, as well as an integrated green waste collection point.
According to Manfred Böhmwalder, Mayor of Götzis and chairman of the association, the goal of the joint project is to create a modern, efficient, and sustainable waste management infrastructure that is easily accessible for the local population while optimizing investments and administrative resources through shared expertise.
