Middleby Corp. beats Q2 estimates and completes Midera separation

The Middleby Corp. reported second-quarter earnings that exceeded Wall Street expectations, posting net income of $54.8 million, or $1.21 per share. Adjusted earnings reached $2.35 per share, surpassing the $2.28 average estimate from analysts at Zacks Investment Research. Total revenue for the period was $875.5 million, also beating the $836.8 million forecast.

Alongside these financial results, the company completed a major strategic transformation by separating its Food Processing business into an independent publicly traded company named Midera. This separation transitions Middleby into a pure-play commercial foodservice equipment company. The remaining commercial foodservice business reported approximately 8% organic growth during the second quarter.

Middleby has also been active in capital allocation, repurchasing approximately 1.4 million shares (3% of outstanding shares) during Q2. Over the last six quarters, the company has retired roughly 16% of its outstanding shares through the repurchase of 8.7 million shares. For the third quarter, Middleby expects revenue to fall between $620 million and $640 million.
