Middlesbrough defeat Lincoln City as Championship season begins

Middlesbrough opened their Championship campaign with a 2-1 comeback victory against newly-promoted Lincoln City. Will Lankshear, making his league debut after joining from Tottenham, scored both second-half goals, including a stoppage-time winner. The result ended Lincoln City’s 29-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

In other Championship action, West Brom secured a 2-1 away win against Norwich. Despite Norwich controlling much of the match, late goals from Aune Heggebø and Jimmy-Jay Morgan handed West Brom the victory. Norwich manager Philippe Clement expressed frustration over a disallowed handball claim during the match.

Additionally, Bolton defeated Preston 2-1 with first-half goals from Sam Dalby and Thierry Gale, marking their first Championship win since 2019. Meanwhile, Sheffield United and Birmingham City played to a goalless draw.
