Midfielder Issa Doumbia set to join Sporting CP from Venezia

Venezia midfielder Issa Doumbia, who helped the club achieve promotion to Serie A, is preparing to move to Sporting CP for the upcoming season. He told Sky Sports Italia that his goal is to become one of the world's best midfielders and to be remembered as an important figure in football. Doumbia said he had dreamed of playing in the Champions League with his friend Zoma while at Albino Leffe. Sporting is racing to secure his signature, competing with clubs such as Benfica, Roma, Everton, Newcastle, Brentford and Juventus. The club’s sporting director is reportedly finalising an official offer. Doumbia also mentioned receiving a call‑up to Italy’s Under‑21 squad, which he learned about from his brother, and expressed excitement about the opportunity.
