Midfielder Mikel Amondarain signs with Bologna on €9 million deal
Argentine midfielder Mikel Amondarain, a 2005‑born prospect from Estudiantes de La Plata, completed his transfer to Serie A side Bologna FC 1909. The agreement is reported to be worth €9 million plus performance‑related bonuses, with Estudiantes also entitled to a 10 % cut of any future sale fee. Amondarain passed his medical examination in Bologna and signed a contract that runs until June 2031.
During his last two seasons at Estudiantes he appeared in 24 matches, scoring four goals and providing three assists. Before joining Bologna he was linked with a move to Premier League club Nottingham Forest and attracted interest from other European sides. The transfer marks the 17th Argentine to play for Bologna and follows the club’s recent signing of fellow Argentine Santiago Castro.
