In the recent primary elections held on August 11 in the Upper Midwest, voters deviated from polling expectations and conventional wisdom in both Wisconsin and Minnesota.

In Wisconsin, socialist candidate Francesca Hong, who held a significant lead in polls including the Marquette University survey, lost the Democratic gubernatorial nomination. Instead, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley secured the nomination by a narrow margin after consolidating anti-Hong Democratic voters.

In Minnesota, Mike Lindell failed to secure the GOP nomination for governor despite receiving an endorsement from Donald Trump, which had historically been a decisive factor in such races.
