Midwest Heat Advisory Extends Through Saturday

A heat advisory remains in effect across large parts of the Midwest until 8 p.m. Saturday, with an extreme heat warning issued for portions of Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois and Missouri. Heat index values are expected to reach 102‑110°F, raising the risk of heat‑related illnesses. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, remain in air‑conditioned environments, limit strenuous outdoor activity, and check on vulnerable neighbors, children and pets.

An air‑quality alert has also been declared for Clark, Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, Preble and Shelby counties in the Miami Valley region, warning that fine particulate levels will be unhealthy for sensitive groups. People with respiratory conditions such as asthma should limit prolonged outdoor exposure.

Similar extreme‑heat warnings and high UV index forecasts have been issued for coastal New Jersey locations, including the Jersey Shore, where heat index values of 105‑110°F and UV Index 10 are expected. Precautions mirror those elsewhere: ample fluids, shade, and monitoring for signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
