Midyat man arrested for suspected murder of wife after balcony fall

An investigation is underway in the Midyat district of Mardin following the death of 27-year-old Bedriye Naz, who fell from the fifth-floor balcony of her home on August 11. While the incident was initially reported as a fall, her family and legal counsel are alleging she was pushed by her husband, Levent Naz.

Levent Naz has been arrested on suspicion of intentional homicide. The victim's lawyer, Gurbet Bilbay, stated that Bedriye Naz had attempted to divorce her husband approximately one year ago but was prevented from doing so. The lawyer further alleged that following the incident, Levent Naz called a relative and claimed responsibility for the killing, citing infidelity as a motive.

Family members, including the victim's sister Filiz Dilekçi, have publicly called for justice, asserting that the death was not an accident. Authorities are currently reviewing phone records and witness testimonies to determine the exact circumstances of the death.
