Mielec cultural center renovation threatens Henryk Burzec mosaic

Concerns have been raised regarding the potential destruction of a unique spatial mosaic by Henryk Burzec during renovations at the Samorządowe Centrum Kultury (SCK) in Mielec. The artwork, which features a distinct relief combining mosaic, sculpture, and spatial modeling, is at risk because planned construction work involves cutting a doorway directly through the composition.

The Polish Association for the Protection of Post-War Architecture has intervened, contacting conservation authorities to request urgent action to prevent the damage. The organization is advocating for the mosaic to be officially entered into the register of monuments to ensure its long-term protection.
