Romania celebrates National Day of Agro-food Products
October 10 marks the National Day of Romanian Agro-food Products, a holiday established by Law no. 168/2017 to promote domestic agricultural production and strengthen consumer confidence in local goods. The law aims to improve the position of Romanian producers within the food supply chain and encourage the consumption of traditional products.
To commemorate the day, various festivities and fairs are being held across the country. In Slatina, the Harvest Days brought together farmers and local producers in Tineretului Park. In Mioveni, the Harvest Festival on the Argeș Valley included the opening of a Popular Craftsmen's Fair. Other regional events include a harvest fair at the Transylvanian Village Museum in Turdaș and a honey festival in Miercurea-Ciuc, which features local producers from Harghita and Covasna.
These celebrations focus on showcasing seasonal produce, traditional recipes, and artisanal crafts, such as pottery and honey production, to connect local producers directly with consumers.
