TU Braunschweig researchers develop high-precision navigation technology
Researchers at TU Braunschweig, in collaboration with European partners through the 'geniouss' project, have developed a new navigation technique capable of locating positions up to 50 times more accurately than standard GPS in environments with disrupted satellite signals.
Traditional GPS often fails in urban areas where high buildings block or reflect satellite signals, leading to incorrect location data. The new method overcomes this by utilizing camera imagery and additional sensors rather than relying solely on satellite signals. The technology has already seen successful demonstrations in applications involving drone navigation, surveying work, and a specialized bicycle app.
