Migración Colombia expels man impersonating priest in Medellín

Migración Colombia has expelled a 39-year-old foreign national who impersonated a priest to solicit money from drivers in Medellín. The individual used religious vestments to offer purported blessings to vehicles on the Avenida Regional, a major thoroughfare, causing significant traffic disruptions and public annoyance.

Authorities noted that this was not an isolated incident. The individual had previously been identified performing a similar scheme on the Autopista Sur in Bogotá. Although he had left the country following that discovery, he returned to Colombia and relocated to Medellín to resume the practice. Following community complaints, the man was intercepted by the National Police and the Medellín Secretariat of Security before being handed over to migration officials for immediate expulsion.
